I launched Dramatic Effect as I found from my own experience that there was a lack of creative support tailored to rural and community settings. There’s plenty of help out there on the business side of things - but not so much on the actual nuts and bolts of working creatively. I found plenty of books and websites with exercise ideas for the rehearsal room or workshop, but they either just didn’t work for my setting, or didn’t give me the tools to really take work forward. Additionally - so much support out there is ‘city-centric’, and just doesn’t apply to rural settings where infrastructure, budgets, demographics and lifestyles work differently. When I was getting started myself, I craved that tailored support - to have that sounding board, someone to guide and support that I could actually talk to - and could understand the specific nuances and challenges of my situation where ‘one size fits all’ advice on some business website was just never going to hit the mark. I’ve spent years mentoring others within my organisation - so I’m delighted to be able to reach out to a wider audience and help more people. I’m looking forward to working with you!
